– I believe that for things to really change, we will have to wait until 2026. It could be a big turning point for all teams, including the power units, probably one of the biggest differences. Now there is not much difference between the teams’ power units, but much more between the cars – said the McLaren driver.

The new F1 engine will still be a high-revving, high-power internal combustion V6, but it will use more electrical energy – an increase of 50% to 100% – and sustainable fuels.

However, Norris remained skeptical when deducing what current leader RBR’s situation could be in the 2026 championship; for him, the six-time constructors’ champion will still be able to remain strong:

-I imagine that RBR, being the team that it is, will always have an advantage as it is already ahead. They are so smart and if they do as good a job as other teams, they should always have the advantage they already have, but we hope they start to run out of good ideas.
