Houston Dash, the team where Brazilian midfielder Andressa Alves plays, achieved a great victory on Saturday night (31). Away from home, the team defeated Bay FC 3-2, in a final game that had three goals. The winning goal was scored in the 55th minute of the second half. The duel was valid for NWSL third roundthe American women’s soccer league.
Houston Dash number 10, Andressa Alves started the match among the starters and played for 60 minutes. When she left the field for Venezuelan Bárbara Olivieri to enter, her team was losing 1-0, a goal scored by fellow Venezuelan Deyna Castellanos in the first half. It was from then on that the game began to become electrifying.
Houston’s reaction
In the 21st minute of the second half, Diana Ordoñez tied the score for Dash. The team started to press in search of the winning goal, until they managed to equalize in the 40th minute, conceded by Olivieri. From the shot, Ordoñez took a shot and goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx saved it, but the rebound was sent into the back of the net by the attacker herself, putting Houston ahead.
The visiting team’s joy was short-lived as striker Racheal Kundananji equalized in the 48th minute. Still, there was time for Houston to try for another goal, as the referee had signaled nine minutes of added time. The team launched an attack and scored the saving goal in the 55th minute, with Havana Solaun.
First victory
This was the Houston Dash’s first win in the NWSL, after a draw and a defeat in the first two rounds. The team now appears in fourth place on the leaderboard. Meanwhile, Bay remains with three points, being in tenth place. The competition has 14 teams, with the top eight teams advancing to the playoffs.
