The Santos board met this Thursday with representatives from Krasnodar, from Russia, in an attempt to reach an agreement to pay the debt of approximately US$4 million (R$19.98 million at current prices) for hiring the striker Cueva. The Vila Belmiro club says that the expectation is to resolve the issue “in the next few days”.

– Santos continued today (28), during a virtual conference, the understandings with the Russian club Krasnodar, which is requesting FIFA to pay a debt arising from the purchase of striker Cueva.

– In an attempt to move towards a friendly composition, the expectation is to resolve the financial issue in the coming days, opening the concrete possibility of canceling the Transfer Ban before FIFA – published Santos.

Santos scores 3-1 at Bragantino and is in the Paulistão final

Last Thursday, shortly after qualifying for the final of the Campeonato Paulista, president Marcelo Teixeira explained that he intends to pay the debt and demonstrated empathy with the Russians. It is worth mentioning that, under Andres Rueda’s management, Santos made an agreement with Krasnodar for an installment plan, but defaulted on the installments.

– There is a lot of wear and tear and that is understandable. If I were on the other side, perhaps, I would be acting the same way. He ended up having a transfer ban. When the transfer ban arrives, the club just wants the other, who is the debtor, to fulfill their part. There is no alternative.

Until Peixe pays the amount due, FIFA will prevent the club from registering any new player. In practice, this means that coach Fábio Carille can only count on reinforcements from the youth teams – which harms the planning for the Brasileirão Series B dispute, scheduled to start in April.
