Bryan Monte was one of the highlights of Wednesday night (27), in the EHF Champions League of men’s handball. His team, Montpellier, from France, visited HC Zagreb, from Croatia, for the first match of the round of 16 of the Champions League. In a balanced game full of emotion, the young Brazilian promise scored 3 goals and helped the team draw 27-27 away from home.

Previously, in the group stage, the French team managed to finish in 4th place in Group B, with 14 points and a campaign of 7 wins and 7 losses. On the other hand, the Croatian team ranked fifth, with the same 14 points – but with 6 wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats.

Game caught!

As expected, the clash between HC Zagreb and Montpellier was quite fierce. Playing away from home, the French team managed to start the match ahead on the scoreboard, but without opening up any major advantages. Bryan Monte started the match hot, and in the 3rd minute scored his first goal in the match but – then – received a 2-minute suspension. At the end of the stage, the Brazilian recovered his good performance and scored the last goal before the break, giving his team a 2-goal lead.

In the second half, the home team managed a good reaction, and turned the score around 16 to 15. Led by Frenchman Diego Simonet, who scored six goals and three assists, Montpellier managed to get back in front until the last 2 minutes. However, the home team tied the match again in the final minutes, 27 to 27. Bryan still managed to score another goal in the second period and ended the match with 3 goals.
