Wassim Jazzar, a 17-year-old, lost his life after being kicked during an amateur football game in Algeria.
The incident occurred during an attempt to challenge the ball, when Wassim, a player from Najm Wadi El Maa, was hit by a defender from the opposing team.
Witnesses to the event reported the absence of an ambulance or medical team at the scene, resulting in the athlete being transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. After a few hours in the hospital, Wassim was pronounced dead. The abdominal injury caused by the kick was identified as the cause of death.
The Algerian Football Federation expressed its mourning over what happened through an official announcement on social media, offering condolences to the player’s family.
