Gabigol will be one of 50 players registered by Flamengo in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores. The club has until 5pm (Brasília time) next Friday to send the list.

Although he is suspended until April 7, 2025 by the Anti-Doping Sports Justice Court (TJD-AD) for fraud in an anti-doping test, the athlete may be supported by a suspensive effect during the Libertadores group stage dispute, which takes place between the start April and the end of May.

Even though he is registered, Gabigol, for now, is unable to play. He is also prevented from training at Flamengo’s CT.

Gabigol’s defense, carried out by lawyer Bichara Neto’s office, will file a request for suspensive effect. Such a move, however, can only be made after the publication of the ruling that defined the suspension applied against Gabigol last Monday.

On the Brazilian Doping Control Authority (ABCD) website, Gabigol is already listed as an athlete suspended for fraud in an anti-doping test.

Flamengo is in Group E of the Libertadores, alongside Bolívar-BOL, Millonarios-COL and Palestino-CHI. The red and black debut will take place on the 2nd, at 7pm (Brasília time), against Millos, in Bogotá.
