While visiting Santa Catarina, the secretary attended the launch of the 2nd edition of the Citizen Domestic Work Program, in Florianópolis, on April 16.

“We see in the statistical data that women are the great victims of informality, the great victims of unemployment in our country”, stated the secretary.

According to the Pnad Contínua Quarterly survey by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), referring to the 4th Quarter of 2023, women make up 3.7% of the Santa Catarina population who are unemployed, compared to 2.8% of unemployed men.

According to the secretary, ensuring women’s economic autonomy involves generating employment.

“Guaranteeing economic autonomy means guaranteeing the generation of jobs and income, jobs with social protection, which are formal jobs,” he said.

“Guarantee, through public policies, a mechanism so that women who want to undertake are able to have their enterprises highly sustainable, that have the physical structure and financial structure to handle their business.”

It is necessary to take the burden of care off women’s backs, says secretary

According to Rosane da Silva, the Federal Government is working on a national care policy that alleviates the burden on women, traditionally responsible for taking care of the home and family.

“So that these responsibilities belong to the State, companies, society, families and within families, because this will free up women’s time so they can guarantee their economic, political and social autonomy”, he explained.
