The second day of the Bells Beach stage window was marked by a Brazilian confrontation. As fate would have it, Luana Silva and Tatiana Weston-Webb – Brazil’s only representatives on the Women’s World Tour – would face each other in the round of 16. Like any good classic, the drums were balanced and full of emotions. At the end of 30 minutes, however, only Tatiana Weston-Webb smiled. With a victory by 11.97 to 11.67, she advanced to the quarterfinals where she will face the American Caroline Marks, current world champion.

Once the round of 16 phase is over, the women’s event stops for the men’s round 3. The next call for the Bells Beach stage will be this Wednesday at 5:30 pm. Globoplay, sportv3 and ge.globo broadcast all heats live.

The Brazilian classic got off to a busy start. Luana took the lead with a 5.00 wave. Tatiana responded with a 3.83, followed by a 0.77. With the sea very rough, the two surfers had difficulty finding more waves in the following minutes. Only at 13, Luana entered a right, receiving 4.23 from the judges.

But Tatiana didn’t let it go. In the next minute, she found a wave of 6.17, taking the lead with priority rights. The drums continued exciting and open until the end. With five minutes to go, Luana surfed for a 6.67, retaking first place. Two minutes later, however, Tatiana found a 5.80, returning to the lead.

Needing 5.30 to turn around, Luana went for it all or nothing, but didn’t find the turnaround wave. Victory for Tatiana (11.97 to 11.67), who continues ahead in Bells.
