Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom congratulated President Jair Bolsonaro and sent congratulations to the Brazilian people on the 200th anniversary of Brazil’s Independence, this Wednesday (7th). The message was released by the interim ambassador of Great Britain in Brasilia, Melanie Hopkins, on her Twitter account.

In the message, the Queen recalls the trip she made to Brazil in 1968: “Amidst the celebration of the important occasion of the 200 years of independence, I would like to congratulate Your Excellency and send my congratulations to the people of the Federative Republic of Brazil, remembering with affection my visit to the country in 1968. May we continue to work with hope and determination to overcome global challenges together”.

In her publication, the British ambassador to Brazil said that the queen’s message is a symbol of Brazil’s importance to the United Kingdom. “It is with great joy that I share a beautiful message sent by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the Brazilian people, represented by the President of the Republic. It is yet another symbol of Brazil’s importance to the United Kingdom; a partnership of 200 years.”

Queen Elizabeth II, a record-breaking monarch

Seven decades of reign for a 96-year-old monarch who has traveled the world 42 times: Queen Elizabeth II, who has celebrated her platinum jubilee since June 2, is used to breaking records.

record longevity

Elizabeth II reigns for 70 years and nearly four months, a record in British history. The previous record belonged to his great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, who reigned for 63 years, seven months and two days (from 20 June 1837 until her death on 22 January 1901).

At 96 years old, Queen Elizabeth is also the world’s oldest reigning monarch. Only two kings have reigned longer than she: French King Louis XIV (over 72 years between 1643 and 1715) and King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand (70 years and four months, June 9, 1946 to October 13) of 2016).

tireless traveler

As queen, she traveled to over 100 nations—another record for a British monarch—and made over 150 visits to Commonwealth countries. She has been to Canada 22 times, more than any other country, and 13 times to France — whose language she speaks — more than any other European country.

The Daily Telegraph calculated that she traveled the equivalent of 42 trips around the world before she stopped traveling abroad in November 2015, aged 89. Her longest trip abroad lasted 168 days (from November 1953 to May 1954), when she visited 13 countries.

One million greeting cards

She sent around 300,000 cards to people celebrating their 100th anniversary and over 900,000 to couples celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary (60 years). She herself was married for more than 73 years to Prince Philip, who died in April 2021 — another record for a British monarch.

sometimes pioneer

In 1996, Queen Elizabeth was the first British monarch to visit China. She was also the first British monarch to address the House of Representatives in Washington on May 16, 1991.

He sent his first email on March 26, 1976, during a visit to a Ministry of Defense research center.

In 1997, it launched the first official website for Buckingham Palace. In 2014, he posted his first tweet and, in 2019, his first Instagram post.
