Lula’s rating worsens from January to May, shows CNT survey

Research released this Tuesday (7) by the National Transport Confederation (CNT) revealed a drop in approval of President Lula’s government between January and May this year. According to the survey, 37% of respondents evaluate the Lula government positively, a reduction from the 43% recorded in January. Meanwhile, 30% consider the PT government to be negative, compared to 28% in January.

Detailed data indicate that 12.7% classify the Lula government as excellent; 24.8% as good; 30.6% as regular; 8% as bad; and 22.5% as poor. Another 1.5% were unable to answer.

The survey was carried out between May 1st and 5th, with 2,002 face-to-face interviews, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

Federal government assessment:

  • Great: 12.6%
  • Good: 24.8%
  • Regular: 30.6%
  • Bad: 8%
  • Terrible: 22.5%
  • Don’t know/didn’t answer: 1.5%

The survey interviewed 2,002 people in person between May 1st and 5th. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

Lula’s ratings, however, are better than those of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), in the same period. In May 2020, the second year of the previous term, 32% considered the government to be excellent or good, and 43% as bad or terrible.

Personal approval also fell compared to the previous survey, from January this year, when 55.2% approved of the president, and 39.6% disapproved.
