A 60-year-old Argentine model wants to compete in Miss Universe in September, after winning Miss Universe Buenos Aires this week.
“It was a very thoughtful decision, but, thanks to the director of Miss Universe Buenos Aires, I decided to sign up at age 60,” Alejandra Rodríguez told TN channel this Tuesday (24).
To compete for the miss Universe international, Alejandra has to be chosen among the winners from other provinces in the national competition miss Universe Argentina, which will take place on May 25, in Buenos Aires.
Lawyer and journalist, now model lives and works in the city of La Plata, province of Buenos Aires, and was a newcomer to competition region, which this year abolished for the first time the limit of age.
“I had never signed up. Now this opportunity arose and it seemed like a challenge, a very interesting proposal”, said Alejandra.
“Beauty is not just about the physical, it has to do with the attitude towards life, which goes beyond aesthetics. Therefore, I think the contest came to break these stereotypes, and that is what is giving it so much visibility.”
The contest miss Universelong criticized for promoting outdated and stereotypical ideas of femininity, has been performed since 1952.
