Throughout May, players who join Helldivers 2 will need to link a PSN account to continue the adventure on PC. This did not go down well with the community, who promptly protested against this measure, causing the game’s rating to plummet on Steam. Apparently, Arrowhead felt the blow.

The community’s complaints revolve around the non-availability of PSN in various regions of the world. Additionally, some believe that Sony’s security would not be as reliable and a possible complicated process for linking accounts.

After negative reviews dominated the PC marketplace, Johan Pilestedt, one of the studio’s heads, spoke out on the networks:

Ah, right on top of the reviews. Well, I think it’s justified. Sorry everyone for the way this all happened. I hope we can make amends and regain trust by providing a continued excellent gaming experience. I just want to make great games!

Whether Arrowhead intends to reverse this measure for the Helldivers 2 community at some point remains to be seen. In fact, the way in which PSN and Steam accounts will be linked to join the action in the shooter has not yet been presented. So, the solution is to wait a little longer.

Why will Helldivers 2 on PC need PSN?

Sony explained, in a post made on the Steam forums, that this interconnection between PSN and the Helldivers 2 players’ account on PC was supposed to have been done from the beginning. However, for performance reasons, it was initially discarded.

To maintain the security of PC community profiles, the company understands that it will be necessary to integrate PSN and Steam. Therefore, creating a profile on the Sony server will be necessary. Find out more about deadlines here!
