Data Ministry of Health show that only 22% of the target audience was vaccinated against the flu. To date, 14.4 million doses have been administered to a target population of 75.8 million people. The vaccination campaign officially started on March 25th.

“From now on, the expectation is to immunize 75 million people through the Unified Health System (SUS), such as the elderly, pregnant women, postpartum women, health workers, children from 6 months to under 6 years of age, public school teachers education, among other priority audiences”, said the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, at the time.

The states with the lowest percentages of the vaccinated population are the Federal District (13.78%), Mato Grosso do Sul (14.18%), Mato Grosso (14.36%), Bahia (14.92%) and Rio de January (17.76%).

In 2024, vaccination against influenza will take place in the first half of the year in the Northeast, Central-West, Southeast and South regions, while in the North it will be in the second half. The change in strategy, since 2023, seeks to meet the region’s climatic particularities, which begins during the Amazonian Winter, when there is greater viral circulation and flu transmission.

This year, the composition of the vaccine is intended to protect against Influenza A (H1N1), Influenza A (H3N2) and Influenza B./AGÊNCIA BRAZIL
