The State Department of Health (Sesa) released this Tuesday (23) the new dengue epidemiological bulletin. The document counts 260,517 confirmed cases in Paraná, 41,472 more than in the previous weekly bulletin. An additional 31 deaths were also recorded, totaling 171 deaths from the disease in this epidemiological period, which began on July 30, 2023 and continues until July 2024.

Of the 31 new deaths in Paraná, three are from Apucarana: a 91-year-old woman, with comorbidities (SAH), who died on March 18; a 73-year-old man, without comorbidities, who died on February 6; and a 24-year-old young man, without comorbidities, who died on March 13. The municipality now has 14 deaths caused by the disease.

The bulletin brought another 685 cases of dengue in the last week in Apucarana. Now, there are 16,441 records of the disease in the epidemiological period.

In addition to Apucarana (3), the new deaths were confirmed in the municipalities of Ivaí (1), Ponta Grossa (1), Chopinzinho (1), São João (1), Ampére (1), Dois Vizinhos (1), Pranchita ( 1), Santo Antônio do Sudoeste (3), São Jorge do Oeste (2), Boa Vista da Aparecida (2), Cascavel (7), Quedas do Iguaçu (1), Pérola (1), Mandaguari (1), Marialva (1), Sarandi (2), and Guaíra (1). Of the 171 deaths in the State, 85 were women and 86 men.

Now, the 16th Health Region (RS), in Apucarana, has 21 deaths from dengue, 14 in Apucarana, 4 in Arapongas, 2 in Cambira and 1 in Jandaia do Sul.

Of the 399 municipalities, only four remain without dengue confirmations: Agudos do Sul and Doutor Ulysses, from the 2nd Health Region, Fernandes Pinheiro, from the 4th RS, and Santana do Itararé, from the 19th Regional.

The 10th Health Region of Cascavel is the one with the highest number of confirmed diagnoses, with 35,793, followed by the 8th RS of Francisco Beltrão (32,491), 16th RS of Apucarana (29,565), 17th RS of Londrina (25,030), 15th RS of Maringá (22,868) and 11th RS of Campo Mourão (20,406). Regarding deaths, the regions with the highest number are the 17th RS of Londrina, with 34 deaths, 10th RS of Cascavel (25), 16th RS of Apucarana (21), 8th RS of Francisco Beltrão (20) and 20th RS of Toledo (14).

“We continue to carry out several joint actions with municipalities to contain the increase in the number of cases and deaths. I reinforce the importance and appeal to the population to join us in this fight against mosquitoes. We need everyone’s collaboration in this process of removing and eliminating breeding sites. We will only be successful with the collaboration and participation of everyone”, said the Secretary of State for Health, Beto Preto.

CHIKUNGUNYA – The Aedes aegypti mosquito is also responsible for transmitting zika and chikungunya. During this epidemiological period there were no confirmed cases of Zika. There are 109 notifications and no confirmed cases or deaths. The new bulletin recorded 11 new cases of chikungunya, totaling 115 confirmations of the disease in the State. Of the total, 73 are indigenous and 28 considered imported. Since the beginning of the current epidemiological period, 1,304 notifications have been recorded.

COMMITTEE – To reinforce the need for awareness and supervision, the state secretary of Health, Beto Preto, was present, this Tuesday (23), at the 4th meeting of the Intersectoral Steering Committee for Dengue Control, which aims to implement initiatives to intensify the fight against the disease.

“We need to expand actions with institutions to guarantee a spread throughout the State, expanding actions and collective awareness. It is essential to reduce the number of cases even before the cold weather and, above all, take care of eradicating outbreaks of the Aedes aegypti mosquito”, he stated. the secretary.

During the meeting, an overview of the epidemiological situation of dengue in Paraná was presented, along with an update on ongoing measures by the entities involved, such as State secretariats, government agencies, representatives of the Social Service of Commerce (Sesc/PR) and authorities.
