The Secretary of Health Surveillance, Ethel Maciel, said this Tuesday (2) that the majority of Brazilian states are already out of the dengue peak.

Of the 27 federation units, eight are on a “consolidated downward trend” and 12 are on a “stable trend”.

“We have a drop in probable dengue cases. This is consolidating. The epidemic in the states is a little different now”, pointed out the secretary.

According to the Ministry of Health, So far, 2,624,300 probable cases of dengue have been recorded across the country in 2024.

The latest survey of the disease, released this Tuesday, also indicates that 991 people died because of dengue, and that another 1,483 deaths are under investigation.

“We already have eight states with a consolidated downward trend. Twelve states with a stable trend. This means that they have already passed the peak. There are seven states with an increasing trend”, added Ethel.

The government reported, however, that Caution is needed, since states that are trending toward stability may experience growth or decline in numbers.

And even in states with a downward trend, people must continue to combat mosquito outbreaks in their homes.

“We still need to look carefully. We have reached the peak, but the curve still has to go down. In the coming weeks we will see if the fall will be longer. A moment of descent, but with great caution. We are still in a moment that demands attention” , said Ethel.

The information was given during a press conference by the Ministry of Health this Tuesday, in Brasília.

The objective of the press conference was to update the epidemiological scenario of dengue in the country and present the main actions to prevent and control the disease.
