After postponing the payment of the third installment of court orders from the Ministry’s Fundamental Education Maintenance and Development and Valorization Fund (Fundef), initially scheduled for this Monday (1st), the governor Elmano de Freitas (PT) took to social media this Tuesday (2) to state that the money will go into the teachers’ accounts until this Thursday (4). “Once the technical issues of the system have been resolved”, explained the head of the state Executive.

With the payment, almost R$630 million will be transferred to professionals who were active between 1998 and 2006. “The measure proves our commitment to valuing these professionals who carry out excellent work, which has made education in Ceará a reference in the country”, he said Elmano.

Union pressured Government

The Union of Public Servants of the Education Departments of the Municipalities of Ceará (Apeoc) filed a lawsuit after the suspension of payment of the third installment of court orders on the second (1st).

According to the entity, which published a note on the case last Thursday (28), the amount coming from Fundef would have been in the possession of the State Government since March 7 of this year. Of the amount, estimated at approximately R$1.023 billion, 60% must be paid to teaching professionals.
