Israeli attack killed 7 NGO workers
Workers died in a bombing yesterday in the Gaza Strip. They worked for the American NGO World Central Kitchen (WCK, “World Central Kitchen”, in English translation), which distributes food in Gaza.
In a statement, the entity said that the attack was “a tragedy”. The organization founded by American-Spanish chef José Andrés indicated that the victims were originally from Australia, Poland and the United Kingdom. Among the dead, there is also a citizen with dual American and Canadian citizenship and a Palestinian. The nationality of a seventh victim has not yet been revealed.
WCK decided to “suspend its operations in the region.” Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, on October 7, 2023, the NGO has participated in several meal distribution operations. In March, WCK was part of an immense action to send and deliver humanitarian aid using a ship that left Cyprus and docked at an improvised port in the Palestinian enclave.
