The 24-year-old man who violently crashed a Porsche, valued at more than R$1 million, into the car of an app driver, who ended up dying, in the early hours of Sunday (31), in São Paulo, gave a statement at the police station this morning. Monday (1st), he was released and returned home in a BMW car, also a luxury car.

Fernando Sastre de Andrade Filho, according to witnesses, was driving at high speed along Avenida Salim Farah Maluf, in the South Zone, when he hit the back of a Renault Sandero driven by Ornaldo da Silva Viana, 52 years old. The victim died and was rescued, but did not survive his injuries, while the boy who was driving the luxury sports car was released by the police officers who responded to the incident “to go to the hospital” because he had a slight wound in his mouth. He took the opportunity to escape, didn’t go to the emergency room he said he was supposed to and started not answering police calls in the following hours, just like his mother. Due to the evasion, it was not possible to carry out a breathalyzer test in Sastre.

This Monday, more than 38 hours after the raid, he appeared accompanied by family and lawyers at a police station in the capital, where he gave a statement and was later released. The Civil Police requested the young man’s preventive detention, but the Court denied it. The case delegate informed that his mother will not be charged, even though she went to the scene of the collision and took her son away under the pretext of taking him to Hospital São Luiz, in Morumbi. They did not go to the health unit and took an unknown direction after leaving the accident scene.

Sastre’s defense claimed that he was within the permitted speed on the road, which is 50km/h, although the damage to both vehicles makes it clear that this would not be possible. The family claimed that he disappeared from the scene and remained incommunicado because “he was in a state of shock”.

The Porsche driven by the boy, who is a civil engineering student at Mackenzie University, is registered in the name of a construction company of which he is also a partner, but which would be owned by his father, who is currently in the business of “incorporating real estate developments, purchase, sale, rental and subdivision of properties” in the East Zone of São Paulo.
