The trial is scheduled to last three sessions. In addition to today (1st), the court reserved April 3rd and 8th to complete the analysis of the case.

Even if the TRE decides to revoke him, Moro will still not lose his position. The result may still be challenged in the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), which will make the final decision. Former deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR), for example, won by 6 votes to 0 in the TRE, but ended up being unanimously revoked in the TSE.

Moro is the target of two actions. One of them was moved by the PL, of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and the other, by the federation formed by PT, PC do B and PV.

The parties accuse Moro of abusing economic power in the elections. According to the captions, he had an undue advantage in the race for the Senate because, in previous months, he had run a pre-campaign for the Presidency with expenses of more than R$2 million, which gave him more visibility than his competitors.

Moro’s defense criticized the arguments of the PT and the PL. Lawyer Gustavo Guedes, who defends the senator, repudiated the parties’ claim that Moro had electoral benefits from pre-campaign spending.

Nobody is judging Lava Jato here. But you can’t forget where he came from [Moro] he came. You can’t forget his level of knowledge [junto ao eleitor] (…). How does a trip to the Northeast make Sergio Moro better known in Paraná? A trip to Tatuí, to Sorocaba. How can anyone seriously say that this expense gives them a vote here in Quitandinha? [no Paraná]? Or have a vote in Cascavel and Londrina?
