Haaland’s performance in Manchester City’s draw with Arsenal generated criticism of the Norwegian striker. Currently a commentator, former midfielder Roy Keane, idol of rival Manchester United, compared the center forward to a player from the English fourth division when analyzing what he called the level of play.

Haaland says Messi is the best in the world

– In front of goal he is the best in the world, but his overall game for a player like that is very poor. Not just today. He has to improve. He looks like a League Two player, that’s how I look at him. His game in general has to improve, and that will happen in the coming years – said Keane on the “Sky Sports” channel.

Roy Keane even has a past with Haaland. The then Manchester United midfielder ended the career of Alf-Inge Haaland, the striker’s father, with a tackle in 2001. At the time, he stated that it had been revenge for a tackle by Alf-Inge in 1997, which took out Keane off the field for the rest of the season.

In total, Haaland has scored 18 goals in the Premier League this season. Against Arsenal, however, he was oblivious: he only touched the ball 23 times and didn’t finish on goal.
