In an Android Authority article, Rahman details that Android 15 will allow the lock screen, notifications and quick settings to make better use of the cell phone’s landscape mode.

When the user activates landscape mode on Android 14, notifications are in the middle, leaving a lot of unused space on the sides of the screen. The same applies to quick settings, which are too big. However, these problems promise to be resolved with some changes in Android 15.

As can be seen in the images, when the Android 15 device goes into landscape mode, the lock screen will show the clock widget on the left, leaving free space for notifications on the right side.

When unlocking the phone in landscape mode, the keyboard will appear on the right, while the pin will be on the left, taking advantage of the entire screen. By sliding your finger down, quick settings and notifications will appear simultaneously, each one occupying a part of the screen, without leaving free space like in Android 14.

Apparently, this design has been in development since September last year with Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1. However, it is worth noting that the interface is unfinished and there are some bugs.

Google will probably finish developing the new UI in landscape mode by the time Android 15 is announced at the I/O event in May 14.
