“Bring Me To Life” is the song that changed Amy Lee’s life, both personally and professionally, as that great and famous communicator would say. The singer and songwriter told the origins of her most famous work in 2016, during an interview with the Songfacts website.

It all started when Amy went to meet a guy named Josh Hartzler, who at the time was just a friend. And from that meeting, everything changed forever.

Years later, I told him that [a música] it was about him, and the rest is history,” said Amy, who married Josh in 2007. The couple has a son (named Jack Lion Hartzler), who was born in 2014.

In the end, “Bring Me To Life” helped Evanescence become a popularity phenomenon and surpassed the 1 billion plays mark on both Spotify and YouTube. Not bad for a song that was born in an unpretentious meeting, right?
