Director was present at WonderCon to promote his next project

After a panel at WonderCon about Against the World, a film in which he acts as producer, Sam Raimi spoke with ScreenGeek about rumors that he would be among the team’s favorite candidates Marvel Studios to direct the future Avengers: Secret Wars.

For the portal, the filmmaker denied that conversations about a return for a new superhero project with Disney had taken place. Still, after experience with Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of MadnessRaimi would like a new opportunity with the brand.

“I love 90% of the Marvel heroes I’ve read in the great Marvel Universe of Stan Lee’s comics. I would love to work with Marvel again. They didn’t ask me reasonably. I hope you had a good experience with me. They haven’t called me yet. I hope they call,” said the director.

In his response, Raimi didn’t limit his interest to one film in the Avengers franchise. The filmmaker kept his rebuttal open enough to signal a willingness to work with basically any character in Marvel’s library.

In past interviews, the director demonstrated openness to a possible Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire, despite not believing that the project is even on the studio’s radar. The next hero to receive a makeover in the director’s unique vision is still a mystery. But if it depends on Raimi, this should happen very soon.
