Actress Kristen Dunst said she felt “miserable” while filming the iconic, upside-down kiss between her and actor Tobey Maguire in ‘Spider-Man’ (2002). The 41-year-old celebrity recalled his experience in the film directed by filmmaker Sam Raimi while participating in the program ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’.
Asked about the kiss, Dunst said amid laughter: “I remember Sam Raimi giving me a book about famous kisses to inspire me, he really wanted it to be special, but I felt kind of miserable while we were doing it.”
Then the artist added: “It was raining a lot, [nós estávamos] freezing, Tobey couldn’t breathe, so it was almost like I was resuscitating him.”
Dunst’s memoir matches an account by Tobey Maguire in 2002, around the time of the film’s release. He said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: “I couldn’t breathe. The rain entered my nose and then it [Dunst] he was kissing me. I couldn’t breathe and I had to hold my breath while she kissed me.”
He further said: “The conditions were neither sexy nor romantic.”
Maguire and Dunst also brought to life the couple Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Mary Jane in two more ‘Spider-Mans’, released in 2004 and 2007. The actor recently returned to the character in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ ( 2021).
