“It’s an accomplishment. It is a unique moment that will go down in history. I’m speechless”, said the student Ana Paula Craveiro Lima, 24, who fulfilled her dream of officializing the union with the traffic instructor, Kassiane de Lacerda Lima, 34, with teary eyes.
In the couple Paulo Enrique, 31, and Cleiton Guedes, 41, an air of happiness was visible as they officially made the union. “This ceremony is the guarantee of our rights. Thank God the government is guaranteeing the right of the LGBTIA+ community and we will fight even harder for other rights. But this is already a dream come true”, said Cleiton.
The formalization of the unions was celebrated by judges Agenor Cássio Nascimento Corrêa de Andrade and Acrisio Tajra de Figueiredo. The representative of the Permanent Nucleus of Consensual Methods of Conflict Resolution (Nupemec) of the TJPA, Nilce Ramôa, informed that the Court of Justice performs two marriages a year, during the state and national week of conciliation.
“It was an initiative by the City Hall of Belém and the Public Ministry of Pará, they proposed and sought the partnership of the Court. We worked hard to make sure everything was perfect and we have a feeling of great joy for the emotion they showed here. This is the first of many to come. Certainly, same-sex marriage will enter as the third event on the institutional calendar”, informed Nilce Ramôa.
The coordinator of the Coordination of Sexual Diversity (CDS), Jane Patrícia Gama, commented that “this is an exciting moment, because it is a right of same-sex couples. So, today is a very special date, it is the first time that a same-sex marriage is taking place at the Civil Forum, this is very significant for the LGBTIA+ community”.
The MPPA and the Sexual Diversity Coordination of the Municipality of Belém were responsible for the registration of couples linked to the LGBTIA+ community, together with the 2nd Civil Registry Office Guedes de Oliveira.
