The Molejo group stated that it was the target of a robbery, this Friday (26). In a post made on social media overnight, the band’s press office reported that the crime affected the group’s communication with the press.

“At this moment, we are in the process of recovering and resuming our operations”, informed the group.

Until the last update of this report, no other details about the robbery had been released by the group’s press office.

The crime happened on the same day as the death of Anderson Leonardo, who was the lead singer of Molejo. He was 51 years old and battling cancer.

Better known as Anderson Molejão, because of his connection with the group Molejo, the singer made history with his lively and humorous hits.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Anderson is one of the founders of the Rio de Janeiro group Pagode, along with Andrezinho, Claumirzinho, Lúcio Nascimento, Robson Calazans and Jimmy Batera.

Anderson was admitted to Hospital Unimed, in Barra da Tijuca, and his condition had been worsening since Sunday (21).

The singer’s wake will take place on Sunday (28), at the Jardim da Saudade Cemetery, in Rio.

Remember the trajectory of Anderson Leonardo, from Molejo

Molejo had big hits across the country, such as “Cilada”, “Caçamba”, “Brincadeira de Criança”, “Dança da Vassoura”, “Paparico” and “Clínica Geral”.

The group, formed in the late 1980s, also recorded several samba-rock songs, including “Samba Rock do Molejão”.

In addition to providing the band’s vocals, Anderson was also responsible for the sound of the cavaquinho. He also worked as a composer. The Ecadnet record has 118 compositions signed by the artist.

Anderson writes songs by the band, such as “Dança da broom” and “Garoto Zona Sul”, as well as hits by other groups, such as “Cohab City”, a success by Negritude Junior.

Grupo Molejo’s first album was released in 1993 and was driven by the song “Caçamba”. The group’s last album was “Molejo Club”, released in 2016, which brought new tracks from the band after 6 years.

That year, the group once again fell into favor with young, hip audiences, mainly because of memes and ironic comparisons with songs by artists like Lady Gaga.

The similarity of the chorus of Gaga’s song “Perfect Ilusion” with Molejo’s classic “Cilada” drove the internet crazy and caused the reproduction of the pagode group’s music to increase by over 100%, which was motivated to release a new album.
