Despite being rivals in the smartphone market, in general things are very different: the Samsung Display assembled a team with the objective of supervising the research and development (R&D) of OLED display for various Apple devices. Entitled “Team A”, this group is part of the Giheung Research Institute of the company Yongin.

Although the special team for Apple is a novelty, the apple brand is one of the biggest customers that Samsung currently has in the field of screens for devices in general. Currently, most OLED screens on iPhones were produced by the Korean giant. In specific units, we have the LG and other brands in supply.

Additionally, LG and other companies also provide displays for some specific units. The four iPhone 15 models launched last year had OLED screens from the Korean company. It is possible that the iPhone SE 4 will come with Samsung OLED screens as well.

It is important to highlight that Samsung may not remain Apple’s favorite for screen supply, as competitors in this market, mainly LG, have improved their devices and increasingly delivered quality and competitive prices. The Chinese OLED market is an example of how they are conquering Apple.

after the Apple event held today, we see how Apple plans to invest more and more in the use of OLED since even the new iPad Pro has this technology. Other devices, like Macs, may also soon come with this technology, so it makes sense for Samsung to create a team completely focused on meeting Apple’s needs.
