Gemini dynamic shortcuts have finally been released on Chrome. Now the user can start interacting with the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot from the Omnibox (address bar) of the browser, making interaction faster and more intuitive.

The new feature was announced last week, but until then it had not been implemented in the browser. The website 9to5Google found the new feature in the stable version of Chrome, currently in build number 124.

How to use the Google Gemini shortcut in Chrome?

O Gemini shortcut is accessible by typing “@gemini” in the address bar. Automatically, the Omnibox will display the text “Chat with Gemini” (“Chat with Gemini”, in free translation) and opens space for the user to type their request. When you press “Enter”, the page is redirected to the chat with the chatbot, but with the command already entered.

With the addition of Gemini, Omnibox now has four shortcuts:

  • @gemini: Start a conversation with the AI chatbot;
  • @guias: starts a search among open tabs;
  • @history: opens the browsing history;
  • @favorites: Open the Favorites folder.

All shortcuts are available in the stable version of the browser, but exclusively on the desktop. Additionally, after using the @gemini shortcut a few times, Chrome hides the term “Chat with Gemini” and only shows “Gemini”, saving screen space.

The new feature is distributed as server authorization, but only for the latest version of Google Chrome. If the feature hasn’t appeared for you yet, it’s worth checking if your Chrome is installed on version 124.
