Criminal pretends to be a police officer and scams snack bar owners in Acre

At least six delivery drivers and cafeteria owners in Cruzeiro do Sul were victims of a scam carried out by a criminal who used the name of police chief Gustavo Dias to scam and obtain money from the victims last Wednesday night (9).

According to the complaint, the snacks were ordered from a false profile, using the name of police chief Gustavo Dias, but with a photo of police chief Rêmulo Diniz.

The address of the Cruzeiro do Sul General Police Station was given for delivery. When the delivery men arrived at the location, the criminal called the owner of the snack bar again and asked for a thousand reais to be deposited into his account, promising a refund made via credit card payment.

At least one of the restaurant owners fell for the scam and deposited the requested amount. And around six snacks arrived at the police station on Wednesday night, including hamburgers and pizza, requested by the criminal.

The case was registered and is being investigated by delegate Lindomar Ventura. The civil police warn the population about the increase in the number of online scams and ask for caution when carrying out banking transactions.
