Cariocas are mobilizing to make donations to those affected by the rain in Rio Grande do Sul. Cars with essential items arrive at all times at the Galeão Air Base, on Ilha do Governador, in the north of the capital of Rio de Janeiro. Water, hygiene and cleaning items, food are taken by Brazilian Air Force (FAB) planes to the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
According to the commander of Galeão Air Base, Colonel Fábio Silva, the site has already received 450 tons of supplies. “Since last week, we have started a very large chain of solidarity involving different sectors of society, civil and military. It is a first-need material that will make a difference for the population of Rio Grande do Sul. Retired photographer Jorge William was one of those who took donations to the air base from a group of jeep drivers from Barrra da Tijuca of which he is a member. “Tomorrow, I come again. Flight attendant Tatiane Hernandes met with her sister to donate clothes, water and toilet paper. “Solidarity, we have to have empathy. Empathy is not just done on social media.
