The virtual meeting sought to expand the service network in the State, which this year has already served 50 patients

To expand the offer and guarantee integrated assistance to those born with heart disease and their families served by the Unified Health System (SUS), the State Department of Health (SES-TO) participated on Thursday, 9th, in a meeting of the Program of Support for the Institutional Development of the SUS (PROADI-SUS), which included the participation of representatives from Hospital do Coração (Hcor), Syrian Charitable Association, Ministry of Health (MS), Araguaína Health Department (SEMUS).

During the event, which was held online, those present discussed the current basic assistance offered in the State of Tocantins and the possible expansions that this work will have at the state level. “The PROADI-SUS proposal comes to qualify our services in the State of Tocantins, so that we will have both a qualified team and an entire qualified network, thus improving service in two aspects: early diagnosis, which it allows predictability of the need for surgery and pre- and post-operative monitoring, thus reducing infant mortality”, said the superintendent of Primary Health Care Policies (SPAS), Robson José da Silva.

In 2024, the State of Tocantins has already provided care to 50 pediatric patients (babies and children) who were waiting for this procedure through the State Regulation Center (CER). “With this work, we hope to reduce judicialization, improving child care, reducing the suffering of the mother and baby who need this surgical procedure. And this is very important, as we are now able to make a collective effort with partners and groups that together seek to serve the population”, added Robson José.

“It is very important for professional knowledge and the health network to be together at this time, as this results in more efficient treatment for patients and their families, supporting innovation. Let the next steps come so that we can agree on this work soon”, said Hcor representative, Simone Rodrigues dos Santos de Ascensão.

For the pediatrician and technical superintendent of the management company of the Municipal Hospital of Araguaína, José Maria Sinimbu Filho, “this is a very successful partnership that combines the local technical quality of the local team with quality in terms of consultation, patient expertise with pediatric heart surgery, but mainly what I found coolest was the selection, we have been selected as a reference center in the north and that makes us very proud to see that it is a service that has grown a lot! There have been excellent results in terms of reducing the waiting list for these patients to undergo procedures and also reducing their survival,” he said.

Next steps

At the end of the meeting, a face-to-face meeting was agreed between the parties, with a date to be defined, in the city of Araguaína, to verify the agreed service in the city and the progress of the next steps.

PROADI –SUS

PROADI-SUS was developed to collaborate with the strengthening of the Unified Health System (SUS). It is financed with tax immunity resources granted to philanthropic hospitals of excellence recognized by the Ministry of Health and its purpose is to carry out support projects and provide unpaid outpatient and hospital services by health entities of recognized excellence (ESREs).
