Biomedical doctor Lorena Marcondes, a professional from Divinópolis (MG) indicted by the Civil Police for qualified intentional homicide due to the death of patient Íris Martins, aged 46, was arrested again this Thursday (9), around 10 days after being benefited from a release permit. The professional was detained in Nova Lima, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, and became ill during the police approach (remember the case at the end of the article).

Lorena had received a release permit on April 30 and left Floramar Prison two days later. However, the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG) filed an injunction contesting the decision and defending that the biomedical doctor should return to jail. The MPMG’s request was accepted by judge Paula Cunha e Silva, from the 6th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Justice of the State of Minas Gerais (TJMG), who argued that the accused had a habeas corpus denied days before receiving the release permit.

The judge also argued that Lorena did not follow precautionary measures, trying to intimidate witnesses and cause confusion in the process. ‘It appears, therefore, that the defendant has repeatedly demonstrated its willingness to fail to comply with court decisions and harm the progress of the original criminal action.‘, said the judge in the decision.

Biomedic feels unwell after being arrested

The warrant was executed this Thursday morning (9) in Nova Lima, by Civil Police agents. According to the agency, Lorena claimed to be feeling ill during the approach and, therefore, the police called the Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU), which took the biomedic to a health unit in the region, where she was treated and remains hospitalized under escort. police officer.

Remember the case

Irís Dorotéia do Nascimento Martins, 46 years old, died on May 8th during an aesthetic procedure at a clinic in Divinópolis, in the Center-West of Minas. The person responsible for the operation was biomedical doctor Lorena Marcondes de Faria. Íris would have paid R$12,000 to perform the liposculpture. The victim suffered two cardiorespiratory arrests and had to be taken to São João de Deus Hospital, where she died hours later.

According to the Civil Police, this surgery can only be performed in the presence of a doctor and an anesthesiologist. The clinic did not have basic equipment, such as a heart monitor, and the laser that would be used in the procedure had not arrived at the location when the surgery began.

The professional and the nurse who assisted her in the surgeries were preventively arrested after the case, but were granted habeas corpus and were placed under house arrest. Even under house arrest, the biomedical continued offering liposuction on your social networks, same surgery that caused the death of Íris Martins. Approximately 15 days after the report of the Itatiaiathe Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJMG) suspended the biomedical license. Lorena is also cited in three lawsuits for medical error. One of them involves a model who reportedly had a deformed mouth after undergoing an aesthetic procedure with the same professional in Divinópolis (MG).

Lorraine She was arrested again at the end of March 2024 in Nova Lima, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. Two days later, the Civil Police confirmed the professional’s indictment for intentional homicide with ill motive and treason with possible intent. She remains detained at the Floramar Prison. On April 30th, she was benefited from a new release permit and left the Floramar Prisonin Divinópolis.
