Tocantins – the State will receive a significant contribution to the Luz para Todos program, announced by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME). R$400 million will be allocated to benefit 5,300 families in vulnerable situations, including low-income, quilombola, indigenous and settled communities.

The initiative aims to expand access to electricity in these areas. The announcement was made to Governor Wanderlei Barbosa, who expressed optimism with the news.

Implementation phases

The program will be implemented in stages, starting with 560 families and extending to a further 2,600 over the course of the project. The expectation is that the remaining families will be served in the second year of implementation.

A launch ceremony is scheduled for June, with the possible presence of Minister Alexandre da Silveira. During the announcement, the governor highlighted the social importance of the program, which focuses on groups that traditionally face difficulties in regularizing land and obtaining basic services such as electricity.

Support and thanks

The governor also thanked the key figures who facilitated the obtaining of these resources, such as Alan Kardek Moreira, director of Institutional Relations at Energisa Tocantins, and members of the state’s federal bench.

Specifically, he mentioned the support of Dorinha Seabra Rezende, federal deputy, and Vicente Júnior, also federal deputy, who have been fundamental in the fight for more investments for the state. The program has already started to register families that will benefit, such as the 130 families in Paranã who currently live without access to electricity.
