The Health Emergency Operations Center (COE) stated in a meeting held this Tuesday (07) that the Dengue scenario in Bahia is on a downward trend.
Currently, the State has 197 municipalities are experiencing an epidemic of the disease, a reduction from the more than 270 previously recorded. Furthermore, 95 municipalities are at risk and 83 are on alert.
Vitória da Conquista leads in the number of cases, with 28,658 notifications. In relation to deaths, 63 were confirmed in several municipalities, with emphasis on Vitória da Conquista, where there were 14 deaths due to dengue.
As for vaccines, until last Monday (06), 143,584 of the 170,540 doses received by the State had already been applied.
The State Health Secretary, Roberta Santana, highlighted the impact of the measures adopted by the Government of Bahia, combined with the efforts of health teams and the collaboration of the population.
“We invested more than R$ 21 million in actions not only related to assistance, but also investing in medicines and supplies, in equipment for endemic disease agents, in training professionals, use of Ultra Low Volume (UBV) – also known as “fumacê ” – and also in public awareness actions”, evaluates Santana.
In addition to Dengue, other arboviruses are also a concern. Chikungunya recorded a 40% increase, with 12,462 probable cases reported in 2024. As for Zika, 2,048 probable cases were reported. A Oropouche fever is also a concern, with 356 confirmed cases in Bahia, mainly in the East and South regions.
