Federal government announces sending 30 electric buses to Rio Branco and land regularization projects | Acre

Thirty electric buses must be sent by the federal government to renew the bus fleet White Riverfurthermore, the capital should receive two more land regularization projects. The actions were announced this Wednesday (8) by the Presidency of the Republic and are part of another stage of the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) Seleções.

According to the Presidency, more than 360 thousand people should benefit in the capital of Acre, equivalent to 44% of the population of the entire state. The actions are coordinated by the Ministry of Cities and are part of the PAC’s ‘Sustainable and resilient cities’ axis.

The acquisition of buses is part of the ‘Urban and sustainable mobility’ sub-axis, while land regularization actions are part of the ‘Periferia Viva – Urbanização de Favelas’ program, with actions aimed at areas in a situation of greater social vulnerability. It was not disclosed when these actions should take place.

Bus runs in testing phase

The vehicle arrived in the capital on April 27th and was officially presented to the population on Monday (6th) at an event in front of the city hall. The bus, which started running on Tuesday (7), has been traveling between the Federal University of Acre (Ufac) and the Corrente region, in the 2nd District of the capital.

“It will last for a period of 60 days, and may not only build this line, but other lines of the 42 existing in Rio Branco. It is here for testing, proof of concept of feasibility so that after this process we can have the Term of Reference concluded which meets a justification statement from the requesting sector, which is the RBTrans transport board [Superintendência Municipal de Transportes e Trânsito] which requested the inclusion of 30 electric buses”, explained the superintendent of RBTrans, Clendes Vilas Boas, at the time.

Of the 30 buses that must be sent to Rio Branco, 20 are the ‘standard’ model and 10 are articulated. Some drivers have also started to be trained to drive the vehicles.

Among the most important projects for the region are the recovery of BR-364 between Cruzeiro do Sul and Rio Branco; the construction of the bridge between Cruzeiro do Sul and Rodrigues Alves, which has been a demand of the population for 15 years; the new maternity hospital in Rio Branco; and the construction of affordable housing through the ‘Minha Casa Minha Vida’ program.
