People from Sergipe can contribute to the Destina Sergipe Campaign until the 31st

Sergipe residents have until May 31st, the 2024 Income Tax submission deadline, to participate in the Destina Sergipe Campaign. Conducted by the Government of Sergipe, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Inclusion and Citizenship (Seasic), the action aims to raise awareness and mobilize the population so that they can allocate part of the tax in favor of social actions.

During the 2024 declaration, Sergipe taxpayers who fall into the individual category have the opportunity to support initiatives aimed at the well-being of children, adolescents and the elderly. This action can be carried out by allocating the amounts that would be paid or received as a refund, without any additional burden for the taxpayer. The donation does not interfere with the declaration itself, nor does it affect the calculation of the tax due or to be refunded by the taxpayer.

“The Destina Sergipe Campaign was a success last year, we achieved a good result, but we know it can be even better. I leave here my request to the people of Sergipe, who choose to allocate it. There is no additional cost and all proceeds will go to the Elderly Fund and the Children and Adolescents Fund. Let’s allocate it”, emphasizes the Secretary of State for Social Assistance, Inclusion and Citizenship, Érica Mitidieri.

With membership, up to 6% of the tax amount can be allocated to the State Fund for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (Fundecria) or to the State Fund for the Rights of the Elderly (Fundeproi), and the choice of the fund that will benefit is up to at the taxpayer’s discretion. The percentage can also be divided between the two funds, each receiving 3% of the value.

Collective benefits

Lar de Idosos Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Same) was one of the institutions benefiting from the Destina Sergipe Campaign in 2023. The institution’s CEO, Antônio Costa Almeida, comments that the benefits of the campaign are collective and encourages the participation of Sergipe residents.

“As it is a philanthropic institution, Same needs the collaboration and support of society to maintain itself. So, I call on society, business people, people of good will to, when making their annual declaration, allocate a percentage of the tax so that these resources can be reverted to benefit our young brothers, children, adults and people in the third age”, he expresses.

With 74 years of existence, Same is a long-term institution for the elderly, housing 60 people in nursing homes. “In advance, we would like to thank all those who donated to the Destina Sergipe Campaign, knowing that these resources will be shared with the entities that care for those who need it most”, expresses Antônio Costa.

In 2023, the campaign, which had a partnership between Seasic and the State Secretariat of Finance (Sefaz), achieved the support of taxpayers and the result was the collection of income tax allocation in the state boosted by 156% in allocation for Fundecria and 76% for Fundeproi.

How to participate

To make a donation through the Destina Sergipe Campaign, you must declare your tax in full. After downloading the IRPF 2024 program, the taxpayer must fill out the identification and declaration form. By clicking on ‘Declaration summary’ and ‘Tax calculation’, you can check the amount automatically calculated by the system.

Then, in the left menu, simply select ‘Donations Directly in the Declaration’ and then the ‘Children and teenagers’ and/or ‘Elderly’ tab. Next, in ‘New’, in the bottom right menu, of the three types of funds that appear, choose the ‘State’ option and in ‘Sergipe’, to define the fund option and the federation unit, respectively.

The amount available for donation calculated automatically by the system will be displayed on the screen. Within the limit of 3% for each fund, the taxpayer must enter the amount they wish to donate to the Destina Sergipe Campaign, which will be calculated by the system. Then just click ‘OK’.

In case of tax receivable, the taxpayer must pay a Federal Revenue Collection Document (DARF) with the amount they wish to allocate. At the time of the refund, the taxpayer will receive not only the amount to be returned but also the equivalent of the amount donated. In the case of tax to be paid, two Darfs will be generated: one with the amount to be paid and the other with the amount to be allocated to the campaign.
