SC-290, located in the extreme south of the state, was reopened so that the cities of Serra Gaúcha have access to Santa Catarina. The highway is in Serra do Faxinal and connects Praia Grande (SC) to Cambará do Sul (RS).

The section was closed last week due to paving work. The decision to reopen came after a conversation between Praia Grande City Hall, the State Government and the contractor responsible for the work, Fraga Construções e Engenharia.

“Currently it is the only safe access, as Rota do Sol is closed, as is Serra da Rocinha. At such a difficult time, we chose to compromise the progress of the work and extend a helping hand to the people of Rio Grande do Sul”, explains the mayor of Praia Grande, Elisandro Machado.
About the works in Serra do Faxinal
SC-290 would be closed to trucks and light vehicles until June 10, to continue paving. The work is 15.6 kilometers long. Of these, nine kilometers will be paved with concrete and the remainder with asphalt.
The investment is R$67 million from the Government of Santa Catarina and represents, for Praia Grande and Cambará do Sul, an important advance for tourism.
