President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva praised this Tuesday (7), in Brasília, the work of volunteers amid the floods recorded in Rio Grande do Sul. He condemned fake news related to the tragedy in the south of the country. “There is still a lot fake news telling lies about Rio Grande do Sul, belittling the people who are working”, he said, in an interview with radio stations during the program Good morning, Presidentproduced by Brazilian Communication Company (EBC).
“Not just the Armed Forces, the Military Police, the Civil Police, the Federal Police, the National Force. Not just the people who earn wages to work, but the volunteers. What I’m most passionate about is the number of people all over Brazil concerned about helping Rio Grande do Sul,” he said.
“A country that has human beings with the kindness that Brazil has does not deserve this fake news liar – I would even say scoundrel – who lives preaching lies, distorting speech, taking words and telling lies to society. A country cannot move forward like this,” he said.
Common sense
Given the situation, the president asked people to have common sense and not be frivolous. “The situation in Rio Grande do Sul is very delicate. Parliamentarians released their amendments – I find that extraordinary. If there is a senator’s amendment, I will also release it. Everyone wants to help Rio Grande do Sul.”
“Now, we need to be careful because there are people who don’t want to help. There are people who are betting on misfortune, who want it not to work out. We know the importance of Rio Grande do Sul for the history of this country. Therefore, Gauchos and Gauchos, rest assured, have faith in God that we will fix this state and you will return to living happily”, said the President of the Republic.
