The Serra do Lajeado Environmental Protection Area (APA), based in Lajeado, central region of Tocantins, has intensified its fire prevention and management actions, to promote environmental conservation and the safety of local communities.
Forest engineer Camilla Muniz, supervisor of the Conservation Unit, highlights that rural landowners who plan to use fire in activities such as creating firebreaks, cleaning roadsides, conservation areas and hilltops must communicate prior to the Gavião Fumaça Brigade of APA Serra do Lajeado. This measure aims to avoid disruptions and ensure the safety of operations.
The APA team monitors the region using satellite technology, which allows real-time monitoring and analysis of a historical series of data. Specialized sensors detect hot spots and smoke columns, and generate alerts that are sent to the responsible supervisory bodies.
It is emphasized that Integrated Fire Management is an activity carried out under the supervision of the Nature Institute of Tocantins (Naturatins) in state Conservation Units, being carried out in accordance with specific protocols to guarantee the preservation of the local ecosystem.
For those who need to use fire to renew pastures or burn windrows, the APA supervisor highlights the obligation to issue a Controlled Burning Authorization (AQC) through the Integrated Electronic Environmental Management System (Sigam). “This process is self-declaratory and authorization is granted immediately, guaranteeing the regularity of activities”, detailed Camilla Muniz.
Appointments and other information can be obtained by calling (63) 99959-4241. Environmental complaints must be sent through Naturatins communication channels. Open from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm, by call on 0800 063 11 55 and by message via Linha Verde Zap (63) 99106-7787, and via the internet, on any day and time, on the Citizen Portal.
