An action by the Military Police of Sergipe, launched on the afternoon of this Tuesday, 7th, resulted in the seizure of an arsenal of weapons, in Bairro 18 Forte. Teams from the Radio Patrol Police Battalion, the Capital Military Policing Command and the Specialized Military Policing Command participated in the operation.
The weapons were found at around 1:30 pm, in a residence used as a storage room for a criminal who is serving his sentence in a prison in Sergipe. When the PM teams arrived, a man and an elderly woman were found in the house.
According to the General Commander of PMSE, Colonel Alexsandro Ribeiro, the arsenal was seized thanks to the Corporation’s intelligence work. All of this seized material was a result of intelligence work carried out by specific sectors of the Military Police. Our teams were already monitoring the movements of criminals, and today, anticipating the commission of crimes, probably robberies of financial institutions, we launched this operation and managed to seize all this material.
Also according to Colonel Ribeiro, large-caliber long weapons were found in a room of the residence, including a 9mm rifle, a 12-gauge repeating shotgun, another 28-caliber shotgun, thousands of ammunition of various calibers, ballistic protection plates , dozens of rifle magazines, equipment that turns a pistol into a long weapon. In addition, camouflage clothing, balaclavas, radio communicators and various accessories that are often used in crimes with great offensive potential were found.
Those involved and the seized materials were sent to Cope, where the exact quantification of the arsenal is being carried out.
