Deputy Joana D’Arc asked for help for animals that are still stranded

To date, more than 3,500 animals have been rescued

Representative Joana D’Arc’s profile on Instagram announced that members of the Animal Protection Commission of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (ALE-AM) are traveling to Porto Alegre (RS) to participate in animal and animal rescue actions in the capital gaúcha and regions affected by the flood in the state.

Veterinarian Aldenor Lima, who is the deputy’s husband, also came on board to participate in the operations. To ÚNICO, Aldenor explained that the team is moving towards the epicenter of the flood.

“We are trying to reach out. We will descend towards Novo Hamburgo, towards Canoas and Porto Alegre. The situation is very complicated”, he said, citing internet communication as one of the factors that hinder operations, which is hampered by extreme events.

On Instagram, Congresswoman Joana’s profile mobilizes supporters to send help. “Anyone who can help by donating pet items and veterinary supplies, comment here or send us a direct message, and we’ll get them to the little angels who need them most!”, she wrote.

On Saturday, Agência Brasil announced that up until that moment, more than 3,500 animals had already been rescued from the biggest flood ever recorded that hit the Guaíba River.
