The Government of Mato Grosso will forward to the Legislative Assembly the emergency transfer project worth R$50 million to help rebuild the infrastructure of Rio Grande do Sul, which has been devastated by floods and landslides since last week. The resources come from the State Transport and Housing Fund (Fethab) and will be sent to the State of Rio Grande do Sul after approval of the proposal by the AL.

The proposal was approved after a meeting of the Government of Mato Grosso, this Monday (06.05), with members of the Legislative Assembly and representatives of the productive sector.

“It’s good that we are helping and we are not, at this moment, in need of help, because it is a gigantic tragedy. Our objective is simply to provide collaboration, and, thank God, the State of Mato Grosso can help these important people, who are part of our present, part of our history and part of our future. So, it is a gesture of respect, of affection and I hope that other institutions can also collaborate”, said governor Mauro Mendes.

Vice-governor Otaviano Pivetta also highlighted the partnership between sectors and bodies to release the contribution. “We held the meeting because everyone is representatives of the Fethab contracting entities. This action represents a gesture of humanity to our sister state.”

Eduardo Botelho, president of the Legislative Assembly, said that the vote to authorize the transfer on an urgent basis should be completed by Wednesday (08), and should have a positive result.

“We will deliberate with the utmost urgency in the House of Laws to approve this transfer, given the seriousness of the situation”, he declared.

The representatives of Fiemt, Silvio Rangel, of Aprosoja, Luiz Pedro Bier, and of Famato, Vilmondes Tomain, highlighted that the action of the Government of Mato Grosso is a gesture of empathy and that it can lead to donations from other states. “It will certainly serve as an example for other states to take this same initiative and I think the example is very good so that the people of Rio Grande do Sul can rebuild their lives.”

Also participating in the meeting were state deputies Max Russi and Beto Dois a Um, the secretaries of State Fábio Garcia (Civil House), Rogério Gallo (Treasury), César Roveri (Public Security) and Laice Souza (Communication), businessman Eraí Maggi, among other representatives of the productive sector.

Donation collection points

The Government of Mato Grosso will make available, starting this Tuesday (07.05), four donation collection points, in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande, to be sent to Rio Grande do Sul.

Donations can be delivered from 8am to 5pm, until Friday (10), at the Sines and Procons of the Ganha Tempo units in Cuiabá and at the State Citizenship Center, in Várzea Grande; and until Saturday (11) at Ginásio Aecim Tocantins, in Cuiabá.

Donations of basic food baskets, mineral water, hygiene products (brushes, toothpaste, soap, adult and children’s diapers and toilet paper), single mattresses, sheets, pillowcases, pillows and blankets will be received.
