Salvador is no longer in the midst of a Dengue epidemic

In a note, the Municipal Health Department of Salvador (SMS) reported that the capital of Bahia lost its dengue epidemic status on Monday (6).

According to data from the new Weekly Epidemiological Report, released by the Public Health Emergency Operations Center for Dengue and other arboviruses, the significant drop in disease indicators made it possible to reevaluate the epidemic classification decreed in February in the capital of Bahia.

According to the bulletin, Salvador presented a reduction of more than 50% in the number of confirmed dengue cases compared to the same period last year. Until the 18th epidemiological week, between December 31, 2023 and May 4, 2024, there were 825 occurrences, compared to 1,772 last year.
