A 33-year-old man being investigated for rape of a vulnerable person was arrested by the Civil Police this Monday morning (6) in Novo Concordo, in the central region of the state. He is accused of having kissed and fondled the private parts of a 13-year-old girl and even tried to bribe her family to forget the matter, according to police.
The suspect faces criminal charges for the crime and was arrested in compliance with a preventive arrest warrant issued by the Court. According to investigations, the abuses took place last year in the municipality of Santa Tereza do Tocantins.
“After becoming aware that we were investigating the case, the suspect even offered money to the family so that they would forget the matter”, explained delegate Fabrício Piassi, responsible for the investigations.
According to the police, the man was accused of the crime of rape of a vulnerable person and the case was sent to the Tocantins Public Ministry. “The evidence produced throughout the investigative work served as the basis for the complaint and the request for preventive detention,” he stated.
The arrest was carried out by civil police officers from the 80th Police Station of Novo Concordo, with the assistance of agents from Porto Nacional. After arrest, the man was taken to the Forensic Medical Institute of Palmas, for the necessary examinations, and will then be sent to the Palmas Penal Unit.
