Alagoas sends doctors and nurses from the air group to assist in rescues

Alagoas sent two agents from the State Civil Defense and eight members of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), four doctors and four nurses, who make up the Air Operations Group, to Rio Grande do Sul, to assist in the rescue work at flood victims across the state. They boarded this Sunday (5), at Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport.

Technical and humanitarian aid was sent by order of Governor Paulo Dantas. The lieutenant colonel and nurse of the Alagoas Military Fire Department (CBM/AL) who coordinates the Salva Mais program, Elaine Monteiro, informed that the Government of the State of Alagoas received a call from the Ministry of Health so that it could assist Rio Grande do South sending human material and material resources too.

In this first moment, on behalf of the Civil Defense, the executive secretary, Lieutenant Colonel Rômulo Guedes, and Sergeant Moreira, one of the engineers from the technological disaster sector, traveled. The government informed that, by next Thursday (16), it must send two more agents from the State Civil Defense to assist with services in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

“We are going to represent Alagoas in a friendly task force with the Civil Defense of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. We are disaster managers with experience in past disasters. We are going to do all the aerial photometry work, taking the drone equipment here in the state. We will directly assist in the restoration, humanitarian aid and reconstruction processes. We are ready, taking an environmental engineer from the technological disasters department and on Thursday we will send two more members, completing the team, forming the general body of friendly forces working in Rio Grande do Sul”, said Lieutenant Colonel Rômulo Guedes.

Alagoas Civil Defense agents will assist the Gaucho authorities in managing the crisis. The professionals specialize in evaluating natural disaster scenarios and will support the coordination of emergency shelters, humanitarian logistics and geoprocessing of climate-related data.

“We are sending four doctors and four nurses who make up the air operations group for the State of Alagoas. They are members of Samu Alagoas who are going to support aeromedical rescue actions in Rio Grande do Sul. The GTGovernment of the State of Alagoas is committed and involved in this mission. They will form the National Force of the Unified Health System [FN-SUS], coordinated by doctor Leonardo Gomes, who is in charge of these operations. They embark today and this Monday (6) they will arrive in Rio Grande do Sul to provide this support to the population and the State”.

Essential materials and equipment were sent with doctors and nurses for rescue operations. They head to Brasília and from there board a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) plane to Rio Grande do Sul.
