Registration for an event on innovation and strategies for the public ombudsman can be made until this Tuesday (7)

The governor of Mato Grosso, Mauro Mendes, spoke this Monday morning (06.05) in São Paulo, at the meeting of the Political and Social Council (COPS), promoted by the São Paulo Commercial Association (ACSP).

During his speech, Mauro highlighted the good initiatives implemented in Mato Grosso with a focus on efficiency, which has highlighted the State as a symbol of development in the country.

The meeting was attended by businesspeople and representatives of the commercial centers of the 420 associations linked to the São Paulo entity, in person and virtually.

“When we took over state management in Mato Grosso we played a very important role in the financial reorganization of the State and a harsh fiscal adjustment of public accounts. With this, we managed to make the State become a protagonist in good management and efficiency”, he stated.

One of the major actions mentioned by the governor, and which became a success story in the country, was the purchase of the BR-163 concession by the Government of Mato Grosso, which had been suffering from serious problems for years and had not received the necessary investments.

“With this initiative, we were able to invest R$1.6 billion in recovery and duplication works, and offer greater safety to drivers who travel daily in this region, in addition to generating a great positive impact on economic development. We currently have more than 200 km of highway already under construction”, he declared, remembering that the solution was considered “unprecedented and innovative” by the Federal Audit Court (TCU).

The governor also mentioned the impact of these actions on the public policies of the Government of Mato Grosso, which in recent years has invested more than 19% of everything it collects in investments – well above the national average.

Roberto Mateus Ordine, president of the São Paulo Commercial Association, said that the governor’s leadership in the current administration is a demonstration that it is possible to improve public service.

”The dedication to the efficiency of this management in implementing development actions is clear. These are assertive points that must be shared and highlighted as a good example, reinforcing commitment and authenticity in the application of work”, he stated

The president of the Confederation of Commercial and Business Associations of Brazil (CACB), Alfredo Cotait Neto, also highlighted the importance of implementing efficiency practices in public management, as is the case in many successful companies.

“It’s great to hear about efficiency and strategy. We had a real lesson in combining the criteria of private management used in public management”, she concluded.

Also participating in the event were the coordinator of the association’s Political and Social Council, former senator Hieráclito Fortes; the 1st vice-president of the association, Alfredo Cotait Neto; the former governor of Santa Catarina, Jorge Bornhausen; and several members of the association in person and online.
