Police locate missing minor and arrest man for rape in Mato Grosso

A 13-year-old girl who was missing after being taken from school in Jaciara (144 km south of Cuiabá) by a man was located by the Civil Police, today, in the municipality of Alto Garças (357 km south of Cuiabá). The 46-year-old suspect was charged with kidnapping and rape of a vulnerable person.

According to the police, investigations began yesterday after the victim’s mother went to the Jaciara police station to report her daughter’s disappearance, reporting that the suspect picked the girl up at school and fled with the minor.

As soon as they received notification of the facts, the police began their investigations, carrying out interviews with witnesses, field work and intelligence to locate the minor. After finding out that the two had gone to Alto Garças, information was passed on to the Civil Police team in the city, who managed to locate the suspect with the minor in a hotel in the city.

The two were staying in the same room with a double bed, “indicating their involvement”, the Civil Police pointed out. Given the facts, the suspect was taken to the Alto Garças Police Station, where after being interrogated, he was charged with the crimes.
