The Crisis Management Office, formed by the general commanders of the Brazilian Fire Department, gave the green light for the teams already available in Sergipe to go to Rio Grande do Sul in order to join the other Fire Department corporations. and Public Security personnel who work to rescue and care for victims of the floods and rains that hit the south of the country.

The movement began at 5 pm this Sunday, the 5th, and will continue by land due to the amount of equipment from the Sergipe Fire Department that will be used during the searches.

Nine military personnel from Sergipe are traveling to Porto Alegre (RS), where they will provide full support to the Crisis Management Group created specifically to make decisions about the serious situation affecting several cities in Rio Grande do Sul. The Crisis Management Office was created within the scope of the National Council of Military Fire Brigades of Brazil. The actions are coordinated by the General Command of the Rio Grande do Sul Fire Department.

The soldiers who are already on the move to help the people of Rio Grande do Sul are experts in disaster situations and have already worked in similar situations, such as Brumadinho (MG). Five are specialists in responding to flood scenarios. A sniffer dog and the firefighter accompanying him were also sent to the mission.

In this mission, the Government of Sergipe is also sending vehicles, rescue boats, drones and other rescue equipment necessary in this type of situation. The Sergipe Fire Department still maintains a ready group in the state, in case the Crisis Management Group needs more support for new incidents in Rio Grande do Sul.

There was a request for each state to offer available human resources and equipment for possible support, but the sending of troops and equipment still depended on authorization and call from the Crisis Management Office.
