Another case of femicide was recorded in Santa Catarina this May. A 46-year-old woman was stabbed to death inside her home, in the Monte Alegre neighborhood, in Camboriú. The main suspect is her companion, a 32-year-old man, who was caught by the Military Police trying to flee the scene on a bicycle. The case happened last Saturday (4).

According to the police, the suspect had bloody clothes when he was approached by the police. He was arrested red-handed for the crime of feminicide, and, with him, the police found two cell phones that also had blood marks.
Victim died at the scene after stab wounds
The victim was found still alive, lying on the ground, with several puncture wounds on his body. Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) was called to rescue her, but she could not resist and died at the scene.
Also according to the Military Police, the knife used in the crime was found next to the victim, with the blade broken, due to “the force used in the attack”. The woman’s identity was not released.
The motivation for the crime is being investigated by the police. According to information so far, the suspect has been on provisional release since last year, however, the reason for his first arrest has not been revealed.
As the suspect’s name was not disclosed, the report was unable to locate his defense until the last update of this article.
Another case of feminicide
Last Thursday (2), a 29-year-old man killed a 22-year-old woman with a stab wound to the neck, in the center of Florianópolis. According to the Civil Police, the perpetrator was the victim’s husband and was arrested in the act.
The victim had 3 young children, who witnessed the crime, according to the Military Police.
According to data from SSP-SC (Public Security Secretariat of Santa Catarina), the state recorded a femicide every four and a half days between January and March this year. According to the survey, during the period, 20 women died “because they were women”. The number is the highest in six years, since 2019.

March recorded 10 of the 20 deaths from femicide since January. In Blumenau, Eveline Schmitz, 37, died on March 4 after being stabbed in the neck by her husband, in front of her 2- and 4-year-old children.
Also in Blumenau, Fernanda Aline Reinard, 25, was raped, stabbed and strangled with the extension cord of a fan in her residence by her neighbor on March 10.

Still in the north of Santa Catarina, Antonella De Rosa, aged 43, was killed with a hammer on March 6. Her companion confessed to having killed the victim, who was Italian.

In Campo Erê, in the west of Santa Catarina, Vanderléia Krummenauer, aged 35, was stabbed to death by her ex-husband on March 14. In Águas de Chapecó, in the same region, Marta Rotheman, aged 29, was found dead in a cornfield on March 11, and her husband is the main suspect.
