In four months, Acre had eight operations and three arrests to combat child sexual abuse

The month of May is marked by the Maio Orange campaign, which combats sexual and commercial abuse and exploitation of children and adolescents. In Acre, the significant increase in operations that combat the storage and consumption of child pornography, launched by the Federal Police, may also show the increase in this crime scenario in the state and around the world.

In just four months of 2024, eight operations related to child sexual abuse were launched in Acre, which represents more than double the operations launched in 2023, which were just three. Of the court orders served in 2024, three people were arrested in the act, according to Federal Police delegate, Kennedy Barbosa.

To the ContilNet, the delegate explained that the three people were arrested in the act in 2024 for storing child pornography content, resulting from the operations launched. In addition, one of them also served a preventive arrest warrant.

According to the delegate, the demand for child pornography content is increasing, not only in Acre, but throughout the country.

According to the 2023 Brazilian Public Security Yearbook, the latest published, Acre has low records of child pornography among children aged 0 to 4, with only 1 case in 2022. The same data is presented with the age group of children from 5 to 9 years. In children aged 10 to 13, Acre presented 4 cases.

In adolescents aged 14 to 17, there were 6 cases in 2022, with 9.4 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, placing Acre with the eighth highest rate in Brazil in this age group.

Cases of child sexual exploitation were recorded in children and adolescents over the age of 10 in Acre. In the age group 10-13, there was one case in 2022, between 14-17 years old, there were 2 records.

Brazil recorded high rates per 100,000 inhabitants in cases of rape of children and adolescents, with 51,971 records in absolute numbers, with a rate of 104 per 100,000 inhabitants. The absolute numbers of child pornography were 1,630 cases in 2022.

According to the Acre Federal Police delegate, eight operations have already been launched in just four months in 2024, which can be considered an average of two operations per month. “Unfortunately, it is growing worldwide. The Federal Police has been working hard to combat child and adolescent sexual abuse, including creating a Directorate, DCIBER, and Specialized Police Stations within the scope of Regional Superintendencies, DELECIBER”, explained the delegate.

Although the Brazilian Public Security Yearbook 2024, with data from the previous year, has not yet been released, investigations by the Federal Police may indicate an increase in demand for this type of content in Acre and, as a result, an increase in the number of operations launched in Acre. state.

On March 27, the Federal Police launched Operation Share, in which 59 search and seizure warrants were issued in 21 states. In Acre, only a search and seizure warrant was executed, which resulted in a flagrant arrest.

The operation focused on identifying and arresting child abusers, in addition to rescuing victims, as a result of information passed on by the Police of Italy and Spain, which detected the crime occurring.

On March 13, the Federal Police launched operations Maverick and SOS Kids with the aim of repressing the possession, sharing and sale of images containing child sexual abuse content over the internet.

The action was attended by more than ten federal police officers and involved the execution of two search and seizure warrants, issued by the 2nd Children and Youth Court of the District of Rio Branco and by the Children and Youth Court of the District of Cruzeiro do South.

On the morning of March 21, the Federal Police launched Operation Anonymous, which aimed to combat the storage of child sexual abuse content. The search and seizure warrant was carried out in the capital of Acre, issued by the 2nd Children and Youth Court of the District of Rio Branco.

According to information from the PF, the police aimed to find photos and videos of child sexual abuse, as well as other elements that confirm the target’s participation in the crime, which could result in new investigations and the identification of other members.

On that occasion, a man was arrested for storing child sexual abuse files on his cell phone. In addition, a detailed report was drawn up for possession of drugs for personal consumption.

On April 24, Operation Video Call, which aimed to combat the production, sharing and storage of child sexual abuse content, was launched by the Federal Police.

In order to find elements that prove the participation of the person being investigated in the facts under investigation, six federal police officers participated in the action and executed a search and seizure warrant, issued by the 2nd Court of Children and Youth of the District of Rio Branco.

Executing the search and seizure warrant may result in further investigations and the identification of others involved. The investigation began in December 2023 following news of a crime sent to the Federal Police.
